Since the early days of photography The Middle East has spoken to a great number of photographers.
Marc De Clercq has been working extensively in the region for the past six years.
What started out as a postgraduate study has grown into a vast body of work.
Portraits of people, in their daily life, in their religion and their work.
The portraits are a result of short intensive encounters.
He photographs people in everyday situations, during local festivities, in hours of great happiness and sadness.
These people carry in them the history of so many centuries.
And the history continues.
There have been great changes in the region in recent years.
The peace process, economical globalisation; on the verge of a new century.
Marc De Clercq closely observes and photographs in his very personal way.
